Pedigree Wholesale remains 100% family-owned and is now in its 4th generation, with Terry’s son Steve joining the business in 1997 after qualifying as a management accountant.

To support the independent pet retail trade further, Pedigree has used its extensive market and purchasing knowledge to expand its activities into both importing and manufacturing. Steve, who now leads the company, is passionate about the independent pet trade and is as committed as ever to continue to provide the best possible support to help independent pet retailers run successful businesses.

The Challenge

Not enough time in the day!

Too many routes and too much overtime needed to achieve the deliveries for our customers.

The drivers also planned their routes and swapped jobs between themselves.

It took over 90 mins per depot to plan our routes. Additionally, we had no visibility on resources and had to use couriers to support our fleet.

The Solution

Pedigree Wholesale implemented routing and scheduling software from 121 Systems on 24th September 2016.

A pleasure to work with the team at TRU from start to finish through reviewing the product to deciding to purchase and rolling out the solution.

The software is very functional and relatively easy to use, my requirements internally were to role out a solution to five different sites with a team with very different skill sets, I required a solution that could meet our business requirements but be used with ease by my teams.

We saw a 12% reduction in mileage initially but growth has reduced this, however, we are delivering to more delivery points efficiently.
