Wirral Hospice St John’s Christmas tree collection & recycling scheme

About Wirral Hospice St John’s

Wirral Hospice St John’s provides FREE care for adult patients with life-limiting illnesses.

We also support carers and loved ones; families are at the heart of everything we do.

It costs in the region of £5m a year to run our hospice.

Although some NHS funding is received, most of our income is donated by individuals, families, groups, companies and charitable trusts.

Every penny counts and helps us make a real difference to the specialist care we provide for our patients and those important to them.

So, what do 121 Systems do?

121 Systems are proud to support Wirral Hospice St John’s Christmas tree collection & recycling scheme.

The hospice’s campaign started eight years ago after seeing the success of similar schemes with other hospices.

Most notably, East Cheshire Hospice initiated the scheme in their district around 20 years ago.

In 2022, 121 Systems worked directly with Wirral Hospice St John’s to provide the route planning system.

Teresa Nightingale, Income Generation & Marketing Director, says:

“Wirral Hospice’s Christmas tree collection & recycling scheme raises vital funds towards our specialist palliative care for patients and support services for their loved ones.

Working directly with 121 Systems was smooth-sailing from the off.

The team are friendly, hugely knowledgeable and keen to help in any way they can to make things as easy as possible!

The routes were laid-out for our teams of volunteers in vans.

The collection routes are plotted in a way that makes total sense for vans to keep driving forwards and not have to do three-point turns in the middle of narrow roads and lanes!

And the icing on the cake was that 121 Systems provided this support to us free of charge!

We can’t thank them enough for their kindness and willingness to help small hospice charities like ours.

We’re already planning next year’s campaign and can’t wait to work with them again on the technology!”
